ABOUT THIS PRODUCT The Bed Arm Abductor 90 Degrees is designed to provide comfortable support for patients requiring an arm to be positioned at an angle during treatment or recovery. There is a soft, wipeable Heat Sealed convoluted foam Arm Cushion to reduce pressure on the arm while maintaining correct positioning. For patients who need both arms to be held in position, a Bed Arm Abductor can be used on each side of the bed. WHO SHOULD USE THIS PRODUCT? Intended for use in burns units and other clinical settings, the device can be used in both fully reclined and raised bed head positions. Angle and height adjustments are made using the two hand nuts. HOW TO USE THIS PRODUCT 1. Position the Under Mattress Board: A Miracle Grip sleeve is included to help prevent the Under Mattress Board from slipping on the bed frame. Align the Arm Platform approximately to where the patient’s shoulders will be when they are in the bed. Place the Under Mattress Board underneath the mattress. 2. Adjust the Arm Platform Position: Loosen the hand nuts underneath the Platform until the parts can move and swivel freely. Adjust the height first and then the horizontal angle. There are three height slots to allow for different mattress depths and also keep the Arm Platform level when used with a raised bed head. The Platform can swivel horizontally to allow the arm to be positioned at 90° or angled inward toward the body. Once the desired position has been set, re-tighten both hand nuts. 3. Place the Arm Cushion: Place on the Platform with the high end of the Cushion under the hand. The Cushion can be positioned near the body, or further away for the patient’s comfort. 4. Secure the Arm Strap (optional use if needed): To help secure a patient who may move their arm or have contractures, thread the Wipeable Material Arm Strap through the slots on the Platform and over the Arm Cushion in a zig-zag pattern (see video).
