A very nice blend of cheviot wool.Mine had a few darker hairs, and tiny debris flakes, but not so many that it causes difficulty spinning with it. The darker hairs here and there is typical of this breed. And it feels soft and was carded very well, so I only needed to pull a small piece off to use it as is. Which is always appreciated.Since I spin, I tried it on both my Russian and Golding lace spindles. Sadly, my wheel is in repair. I haven’t used the Golding in a few years which shows, but in both cases it spun really well. Russian spinning is ultra fine, so a good wool is necessary to avoid having it snap in the middle. This wool performed really well in that area.By the feel of it I think it would felt very nicely as well as perform well if you wanted it as a stuffing, or top roving.And it’s normal for wool to have chemical odors from the insect treatments, however this one was very slight making it usable from the start without the need to let it air. I’d definitely recommend this one if you’re looking for a nice wool at a good price.
